The Woodside Model

The Woodside model was commissioned from the Merseyside MRS by the Wirral Museum, where it has held pride of place since its completion in 2001.  It is a static model of the Woodside terminus of the LNWR/GWR joint railway and the adjacent ferry terminal to Liverpool and dry dock as they were in 1934.  It was researched and built over a ten year period by a team from the Merseyside Model Railway Society and was the subject of articles in British Railway Backtrack and Railway Modeller in 2001.  If you visit Merseyside, have a look - the Wirral Museum is in the Birkenhead Town Hall, on Hamilton Square (click for map), and entry is free.
